The Foundations of the Union League welcomes visitors to the historic Union League building through The Sir John Templeton Heritage Center. For more information on the several options available for visiting both the Heritage Center and the Union League, read more below.

Open Hours
The Heritage Center is open to the public for open hours every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., and on the second Saturday of every month from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. During these open hours, visitors are welcomed to view the exhibits on display in the Heuer Room. Research can also be conducted during this time; appointments are strongly recommended. For more on research services and information, click here. Tours of Heritage Center/Union League
Tours are available of the Heritage Center and of the entire Union league building. Tours of the Heritage Center provide a brief history of the Union League and then delve into a presentation of the exhibits on display in the Heuer Room. Tours of the Union League highlight the history of the Union League, and can be tailored to meet the group’s interests. Tours are scheduled based on availability, and the Union League dress code is enforced at all times.

Fee schedule for tours is below:

Up to 20 people

$150 weekdays; $225 weekends

21 to 40 people

Presentation/Show & Tell
Events can be greatly enhanced by adding a presentation to the program. Based on availability, a member of the Abraham Lincoln Foundation staff will customize a presentation for the group, with a display of the Treasures of the League or a talk on League History. The League’s collection of important Civil War pieces includes a rare copy of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Lincoln, a piece of the shirt Lincoln wore on the night of his assassination and the Tanner Manuscript describing Lincoln’s death.

School Groups
The Abraham Lincoln Foundation welcomes school visits, generally grades 5 through 12. Visits would include a tour of the current exhibit and the Union League, touching on the art, architecture and history of the League. Please be advised that the dress code is enforced when touring the entire building.
