As director of the Foundations of the Union League, John guided the planning and fundraising effort that led to the creation of the Sir John Templeton Heritage Center of The Union League of Philadelphia. He is responsible for implementing the League’s civic and charitable outreach as well as for the care and development of the League’s collections. An active leader in Philadelphia’s history community, John currently serves as chairman of the Civil War History Consortium.

James began his career at the Union League in 1978 as the club’s associate archivist and has since held many management positions, including librarian, archivist, curator, house manager and membership director. He has served in his present position since 1996. He is also a frequent lecturer at the League House and throughout Philadelphia on a range of subjects, including the Union League, Lincoln and Civil War era-Philadelphia.
Since 2004, Beth has overseen all library operations, including collection development, processing and cataloging. She is responsible for automating the library’s check-out services, and she implemented an online public access catalog to enable members to search for library materials electronically in-house and via the Union League’s website. She also facilitates the Union League Book Club, which meets the second Monday of each month at 5 p.m. in the library.
Erica is available to answer questions about the library’s programs and extensive collection of books, DVDs, and audio books. She is responsible for displaying new acquisitions, updating periodicals, managing materials reservations and orders, and taking requests and suggestions for improvements to the collection.
David is responsible for the care of the collections, including oversight of an ongoing program of conservation of paintings, frames and sculpture. He performs as collections registrar, responding to loan requests and requests for information and photographs. Prior to his current position, he served on staff at several museums and art organizations, including Wintherthur, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia’s Schwarz Gallery.

As Director of Development and Accounting, Kira manages the fundraising efforts for all three of the Foundations. These efforts include annual giving, sponsorships, grants and major gift fundraising. She also coordinates communication with the Board of Trustees for each of the three Foundations. Kira oversees the accounting, financial reporting, procedures and policies of the Foundations as well.

Kate has primary responsibility for all Foundations’ events, including Lincoln Day, the Annual Golf Classic and Youth Work Day. She is the contact for all regularly scheduled Foundations events and the use of The Sir John Templeton Heritage Center for special events. In addition, she is responsible for all internal and external communications of the Foundations and also for the daily operation of The Heritage Center.

With 20 years of experience in educational program development at historic sites and organizations, Lucy creates and implements public and youth history programs for the Abraham Lincoln Foundation and coordinates the Union League’s Scholarship program. An active volunteer in the historic site community of Philadelphia and southern New Jersey, she serves on the boards of the New Century Trust and the Pennsylvania Museum.
